Module 2: Sustainable Sites

In the LEED system, buildings are rated in six categories of sustainability. Module 2 in this program will introduce the student to the first of these categories – 'Sustainable Sites'. A building should be sited in a location that is appropriate for its commerce. For commercial and industrial buildings, considerations should be made to locate in an urban area that is easy for employees to get to. Furthermore, the site should be prepared with considerations to preserving habitat, controlling storm water runoff, mitigating heat island effects, and reducing exterior lighting.

This module introduces the technology and logistics of finding and maintaining 'Sustainable Sites'.
